Ralph Eugene Hollars

March 4, 1931 — September 27, 2019

Ralph Eugene Hollars, 88, of Spiceland, passed away peacefully at his home Friday, September 27, 2019. He was born March 4, 1931 in Monticello, Kentucky to the late RZ and Nova (Crabtree) Hollars.

Ralph Hollars was a man loved and respected by many. He was married to the love of his life, Gladys Hollars, for 63 years. Ralph served in the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He retired from the Chrysler Corporation in 1980. Ralph attended the Spiceland Church of the Nazarene. In his retirement he enjoyed farming, camping, fishing, horseback riding, hunting, and spending time with his grand and great grandchildren. Ralph was the kind of man that never met a stranger. He was always ready with a smile and cheerful greeting. He was a friend, mentor, and role model to many. Above all, he was an example of Christ in his accepting, loving, and always supportive ways.

Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Hollars-Davis (Terry) Brown of Danville, KY; seven grandchildren, Trent (Grace) Davis of San Jose, CA, Timothy (Lacey) Davis of Gilroy, CA, Thomas (Jennifer) Davis of Morgan Hill, CA, Victoria Brown of Danville, KY, Adam (Sara) Hollars of Spiceland, Danielle (David) Houser of New Castle, and Cara Taylor (Matt Huffman) of New Castle; eight great grandchildren, Wyatt And Chloe Davis of Gilroy, CA, Piper, Paxton, Reid, and Renn Davis of Morgan Hill, CA, and Jackson and Nova Hollars of Spiceland; a sister, Opal Upchurch of New Castle; and loved by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys (Lingerfelt) Hollars; a son, Eugene “Gene” Hollars; siblings, Odie Hollars, Walter Hollars, Raymond (Jack) Hollars, Lilly Dane, Irene Sullivan, and Susie Watson.

Services will be at 11 AM Friday October 4, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverends Mark Herbkersman and Gene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Thursday October 3, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service.
