Mount Summit – Raul Pacheco Piñon Sr., 99, went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2019 at his home surrounded by family and loved ones.
He was born on September 24, 1919 in Oaxaca, Mexico. Raul celebrated 67 years of marriage with his loving wife, Rogelia, who is left to cherish his memory. He served in the Mexican military and proudly become a citizen of the United States on June 17, 1980.
Raul was a loving, caring, and humble man. His work ethic and faith in God were second to no one. He was selfless and always put others above himself. He was faithfully devoted to his wife and provided a wonderful home for his family. He worked for more than 40 years at Brower’s Gaar Nursey in Cambridge City before retiring at the age of 88. He was a member of Ninth Street Wesleyan Church and led Spanish worship services. He loved to tend to the vegetables in his garden, was an avid futbol fan and most days he could be found working on something around his home.
He is survived by his son, Felipe Piñon (wife, Hilda) of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Celestina Hernandez (husband, Antonio), of Mission, TX; son, Raul Piñon Jr., of Mt. Summit; daughter, Hope Logston, of Mt. Summit; son, Alberto Piñon, of Mt. Summit; daughter, Maxi Duvall, of Anderson; son, Horace Piñon, of Mt. Summit; son, Noel Piñon, of Worcester, MA; twenty-four proud grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jose Piñon; son-in-law, Terry Duvall; son-in-law, Gary Logston; and a granddaughter, Isabel Hernandez.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Home, 3406 S. Memorial Drive, New Castle, IN with Pastor Dennis Hilton officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Summit Community Cemetery.
