Ray E. Gurley, 90, of Brownsburg passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Brownsburg Healthcare Center. He was born August 1, 1930 in Carthage to the late Edgar and Ethyl (Loomis) Gurley.
Ray graduated from Mays High School in 1948 and joined the U.S. Air Force, serving four years during the Korean Conflict. He was a farmer and also worked for Amoco Oil Company retiring in 1990. Later, Ray enjoyed working part time at the car auction. He enjoyed Bible studies, traveling with his wife, Edna and in his earlier years, golfing. He was also a member of the Connection Point Christian Church in Brownsburg.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Lisa Carr of Brownsburg and Beth Gurley of Avon; a son, Bruce Gurley of Brownsburg; three grandchildren, Ashley (Matthew) Goff, Alex Carr and Aaron (Christina) Gurley; three great grandsons, Liam, Cade and Henry; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Edna T. Gurley; sisters, Hilda Sinisco, Ella Mae Huddleson; and brothers, Byron and Wendell Gurley.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Hinsey Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with burial to follow at Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 – 1:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by contingents from the U.S. Air Force and Knightstown American Legion.
