Richard H. Wittbold Jr.

Richard H. Wittbold, Jr. 84, a resident of New Castle passed away Thursday, March 26, 2020 at his home. He was born June 6, 1935 in Chicago, IL to the late Richard and Betty (Bliss) Wittbold, Sr.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during the Korean War in Guam. Richard had been employed as a truck driver for Bekins for many years and had also worked for a moving company. He was a member of the South Memorial Drive Church of God and volunteered at the Salvation Army. Richard enjoyed coin collecting and visiting with his neighbors.

Survivors include his children: Tammy Harshman, Marietta Wittbold and Brandon Wittbold; three step-children: Mark, Jamie and David Bunch; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law: Shirley Ann Dobbs, Paula Diane (Steve) Snodgress and Connie Lynn (Paul) Davis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years: Sharon K. Wittbold; a sister: Muriel “Mimi” Snow and his in-laws: Paul and Barbara Stover.

Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Green Hills Memory Gardens. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be given to the Salvation Army, 2500 Washington Street, New Castle, IN 47362 or South Memorial Drive Church of God Food Pantry, 3800 South Memorial Drive, New Castle, IN 47362.
