Rick G. Gwinn

Rick G. Gwinn, 62, of New Castle passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018 following an extended illness. He was born May 30, 1956 in New Castle a son of the late Tommy Gwinn and Avalene (Allen) Riggle.

A rambling man with a wild side, Rick was free spirited traveling to and from wherever his heart led him. Rick was always fun to be around and would probably not be recognized by most, without a beer in his hand. He was known for his ability to lighten the mood with his awesome sense of humor, no matter the seriousness of the situation. Rick had a big heart, very generous and he never met a stranger. He loved working on and painting cars, and was a body repairman by trade. Rick was a veteran of the United States Army.

Rick is survived by his daughter, Ashley Heath of Brookville; grandchildren, Ethan and Mason Heath; fiancé, Peggy Brockman of New Castle; step-father, Dale Riggle of New Castle; siblings, Teresa (fiancé: Randy Darling) Pendleton of New Castle, Gerald Gwinn of New Castle, Tina (Perry Burns) Gwinn of Bowling Green, KY, Pam (Michael) Arms of Burkesville, KY; step-brother, Jack Blackburn of Marrowbone, KY; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Rick is preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Gwinn; uncle, Gayron “Gator” Allen; step-mother, Christine Gwinn.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Visitation will be from 1:00p.m. until time of the service. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion/VFW and United States Army. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Rick Gwinn Memorial Fund to help the family with funeral expenses.
