Mr. Robert C. Caig of Sarasota, Florida, born on November 19, 1928 in New Castle, Indiana, to the late Beatrice (Duffey) Caig and the late John David Caig, passed away at age 89 on July 29, 2018 in Sarasota, Florida.
Robert graduated from New Castle Chrysler High School in 1947. Robert served in the Navy from 1948 to 1952 during the Korean War and he dedicated his career working at the Ridge Drugstore, E.R.Squibb and Sons, Rite Aid Drugstores and Martin Memorial Hospital until he retired in 2011.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife for 59 years, Martha Elmira (Cole) Caig.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas R. Caig (Kathy) and David R. Caig (Debra); daughter, Cynthia D. McAdams (Kevin); grandchildren, Christopher Campbell (Julie), Cara Encarnacion (Fernando), Chad Caig (Christy), April Hinson (Scott), Joseph Caig (Amanda) and Jennifer Hovest (Torey); and great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Cayla Encarnacion, Jackson and Mazie Caig, Wyatt and Kaylee Hinson, Elizabeth Campbell, Brady Caig, and Landon Hovest.
He enjoyed antiquing and camping and was a member of Grand Lodge Knights of Pythias of Indiana. He was also a member of United Methodist Church and he was past Wagon Master of the Savanna RV Club of Port St. Lucie, FL. Those who wish may donate in Robert’s name to Tidewell (hospice), Sarasota, FL and the Alzheimer’s Association.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition.
