Samuel Hines

Samuel Hines, 91, of Greenfield passed away Saturday February 20, 2021 at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born on August 2, 1929 in Anderson Indiana to the late Benjamin and Eva Hines.

Samuel was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from Delco Remy in Anderson following 30 years of service. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson with his wife, Barbara and loved being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

Samuel is survived by his children, Rick (Cheryl) Hines of South Carolina, Caryn Johnson of Elwood, Barbara Altom of Greenfield, and Julie Newhouse of Greenfield; several grand children and great grandchildren; brother, Rev. Jack (Barbara) Hines of Lynn; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Samuel is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Hines; son, Danny Hines; infant daughter, Samara Ellen Hines; son in law, Terry Johnson; granddaughter, Lilly Helsey; as well as four sisters and one brother.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Matt Daffron officiating. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery near Middletown. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral Home. Military honors will be conducted by contingents from the U.S. Navy, American Legion & VFW.
