Shirley Rose “Nana” (Lawson) Decker, age 75 passed away on Thursday morning, June 3, 2021 surrounded by her loving family and friends at Henry County Community Health. She was born November 12, 1945 in Hyden Kentucky, the daughter of Chester and Vera (Singleton) Lawson.
She was employed at The Courier-Times as a proof reader and was a substitute teacher for New Castle Community Schools. Nana was a lifelong homemaker and loving mother to all, especially her “baseball boys”. She was Nana to many, using her life to impact that of others. Nana was happiest and full of life when watching her boys play baseball.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years: Donnie Decker of New Castle; two daughters: Traci (wife Robyn) Decker-Petty and Jennifer (husband Brad) Marcum, both of New Castle; 6 grandchildren: Dylan (wife Correy) Decker-Clark of Noblesville, Aydan Decker-Petty, Courtney (husband Seth) Stonerock, Chandler Marcum, Cameron Marcum and Mayah Petty, all of New Castle; 1 great granddaughter: Meredith Stonerock of New Castle; two honorary grandsons: Ryan Jones and Jamari Phillips, both of New Castle; two honorary granddaughters: Catherine Hannan of New Castle, and Annaleza Jones of South Carolina; sister-in-law, Frances Lawson, several nieces and nephews along with many others including all of her “baseball boys” and family.
She was preceded in death by her father: Chester Lawson, mother: Vera Lawson, brothers: Arthur Lawson and Joe Lawson.
Family and friends may call from 11am - 1pm on Tuesday June 8, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Services will immediately follow with Troy Kendall officiating, Burial to be in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Memorial contributions may be given to the Wounded Warriors Project at
