Ted Houston Begley

Ted Houston Begley, Jr. of Shirley passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Wise County, VA., the son of the late Ted Houston Begley, Sr., and Ruby Geneva (McGuire) Begley.
Ted was a 1961 graduate of Markleville High School and graduated from Purdue University. He retired from General Motors after 33 ½ years (Guide Lamp) and had been a graduate of the General Motors Journeyman program. He worked in sheet metal for the plant and at one point was a Maintenance Planner.
Ted was President of the Henry County 4/H Horse and Pony Club for many years where he was a member and the Indiana Quarter Horse Association. He belonged to the Indiana Quarter Horse Racing Association and the Indiana Auctioneers Association. He was the main auctioneer for horses for many years in the area.
Ted was the former co-owner of Cowpokes apparel in Anderson.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Janet Lee (Abshire) Hanna-Begley; 2 children, Tamara (Phil) Bowman, Shawn Austin (Missy) Begley; 2 step-children, Barry Scott (Nathalia) Hanna and Dale Ryan Hanna; 3 grandchildren, Austin Coner Begley, Colin Michael Begley and Ryan Scott Noel; 1 step grandchild, Tyler Hanna; brother, Timothy Lewis (Betty Jean) Begley; a sister, Alice J. (Ronald) Moore; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son J. Scott Begley.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 3:00 PM at the Middletown Church of the Nazarene Fireplace Room, 698 North 5th in Middletown with Pastor Christen Sanders officiating. A time of gather will be available for family and friends from 2:00 PM until the service. Memorials may be made to the Henry County 4/H Horse and Pony Club, 321 West 100 North, New Castle, IN 47362.
