Ted Walter Cook, Sr., 71, of Dunreith, went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 6, 2021 surrounded by his family at his residence. He was born May 23, 1949 in Olive Hill, KY the son of Berthel Lee and Beulah (Butler) Cook.
Ted was a veteran of the U.S. Marines serving during the Vietnam War. He owned and operated Ted’s Custom Lettering. He enjoyed woodworking, playing guitar, writing poetry and songs, and spending time with family and friends. His man cave was a special spot with his bird, listening to gospel music and spending time with his cat, Cody. He also enjoyed playing pool, cookouts, riding his golf cart and loved working on old cars with his son, Ted Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bernice Cook of Dunreith; children, Nida (Steve) Foster of Dunreith, Ted, Jr. (Nancy) Cook of Dunreith and Lorena (David) Hasty of Richmond; grandson, David Elijah Hasty of Richmond; brother, Stanley Cook of Richmond; sister, Lorene (Bob) Hamilton of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Services will be 11:00am Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Dunreith Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Knightstown American Legion and the US Marine Corps. Visitation will be 4-8pm Tuesday.
