Thelma M. Christine, 91, of Spencer, and formerly of New Castle, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017 at McCormick’s Creek Rehabilitation Center in Spencer. She was born October 29, 1925 in Muncie to the late Cathenus and Jessie Fern (Davis) Runyon.
She attended Muncie Schools. She and her husband pastored United Pentecostal Churches in Tacoma, Washington and Paris, Illinois, and then churches in Indiana, including Greensburg, Anderson, Chesterfield, Handy, and then in New Castle, Indiana. She was presently a member of Calvary Tabernacle in Indianapolis. She enjoyed shopping and doing crafts. She was loved dearly by her friends at McCormick’s Creek Rehabilitation Center, where she was known for her yodeling, that was enjoyed by many.
She is survived by four children, Cindy (Rev. Joe) Nelson of Bloomington, Tim Christine of New Castle, Jan Fogle of Middletown, and Dale (fiancé, Memory Brown) Christine of New Castle; a daughter in law, Terri Christine of Oregon; seven grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Israel Christine in 1988; two sons, Nathan and Tom Christine; daughter in law, Della Christine; six sisters, Wanda Abrams, Barbara Criswell, Nora Jean Runyon, June Harmon, Ilene Parker, and Madonna Peters; and a brother, Edward “Sonny” Runyon.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Joe Nelson and Jeff Jaco officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery in Muncie.
