Thelma M. Nixon

Thelma M. Nixon, 83, of Muncie, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Glen Oaks Health Campus. She was born on October 13, 1937 in Winchester, Indiana to the late Lawrence and Christina (Pike) Young.

Thelma retired from Unitog in Muncie after many years of service. She was a devoted wife and mother. Thelma loved crafting, sewing, crocheting, playing cards and listening to old country music. She enjoyed making people laugh.

Thelma is survived by her three children, Margarett Nixon of Texas, Lawrence “Lonnie” (Melinda) Nixon of Springport and Brenda Jolley of Texas; special nephew, Donnie Oliver; grandchildren Kirk and Kyle Atkins, Brandon (Megan) Nixon, Brittney (Nate) Bowers, Donnie Nixon; several great grandchildren; brother, George (Paulette) Young; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ray Nixon whom she married June 17, 1955; grandson, Jeremy Thompson; sisters, Alice Shoemaker and Lydia Wade; brothers Johnny Young, Clarence Young and Leeroy Young.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday June 30, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Springport. Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. You may express condolences or share a memory of Thelma at www.hinsey-brown.com .
