Thelma Irene Darling True, 87, went to heaven with her family at her side on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. She was born June 5, 1931 to the late Rodney Harold and Elizabeth Ruth (Graham) Darling in Henry County, Indiana.
Thelma attended Sulphur Springs School. She was a member of Foursquare Gospel Church, New Castle. She worked several years at RCA in Marion, IN but her priority was babysitting and helping raise her grandchildren who referred to her as Mom, Granma or Nanny.
Thelma married her friend and love, Charles Marion True, October 16, 1958 and they resided in Middletown and Sulphur Springs, IN.
Her loves on earth were her family and home which she cared for. She still did her own lawn mowing at 85.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Margaret (Donald) Swoveland, Debra (Donald) Lundy, Janie (David) Matthews and Renee` True; grandchildren, Amy (David) Willis, Shelly (John) Dennis, Michael (Tina) Haddin, Jennifer (Roy) Smith, Erika Matthews, Jacquelynn Adams; 2 step-grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren, brother, Charles (Bertie) Darling; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. True, brother, Raymond Darling, nephew, Larry Wayne Darling, killed in Vietnam; son-in-law, David Matthews, a son, David Dewayne Barnes deceased at birth.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Jim Becker and Shelly Dennis officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. Friday, October 12th at the funeral home.
