Virginia L. Johnson

Virginia L Johnson, 93 of New Castle, IN, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at the Glen Oaks Health Campus where she had been residing since May 2014. Virginia was born on June 24, 1925 in Progress, IN. She graduated from Cowan High School, married Robert D. Johnson and moved to New Castle. In addition to her parents Jesse & Edna (Lamb) Heath, Virginia was preceded in death by her late husband Robert D. Johnson, two sisters (Marjorie Shockley & Beulah Knight) one brother (Raymond Heath), three great-grandchildren and her daughters Judith K. James, Lois Ann Johnson and son-in-law, Max James.

Virginia volunteered at the Henry County Hospital in New Castle for 30 years. Her kind loving heart and beautiful spirit blessed so many people throughout her life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Castle and enjoyed her time serving in ABWA (American Business Women Association).

She leaves behind her son, Darryl G. Johnson (Linda Redd), whom she loved dearly, to cherish her memories. Virginia leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandsons, and several nieces & nephews. They were all the lights of her life.

A Celebration of Life will be at 10:00am Monday, January 28, 2019 at the Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with her daughter-in-law, Rev. Linda Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Tomlinson Cemetery in Muncie, Indiana.
