Wanda May Beck

November 26, 1941 — February 26, 2022

Wanda May Beck , “Sister Beck”, 80, of New Castle passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Heritage House in New Castle following an extended illness. She was born November 26, 1941 in Indianapolis to Rufus and Lula (Denney) Coffey.

With a lifelong passion for Biblical studies, she attended Calvary Midwest Bible College where she earned a doctorate degree in Bible Theology. Known for her sense of humor, her famous “wink” was her trademark. She loved to sing, play music, and write songs, but her deepest passion was studying and reading the Bible. A prayer warrior, she shined the love of Jesus Christ to everyone she met. Since 1973, along with her husband Pastor John D. Beck Sr., loved and cared for the saints of the First Apostolic Church, pastoring until 2017. In retirement, she never wavered, staying steadfast and faithful to God and the congregation of the First Apostolic Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 64 years, Rev. John Daniel Beck Sr. of New Castle; one son, Anthony Ross Beck of Martinsville; four grandchildren, April (Cory) West of Indianapolis, Andrea (Jeff) Denney of Mooreland, Anthony Ross Beck II (Anna Bales) of Martinsville, and Aaron Beck of Martinsville; four great grandchildren, Kaylyn Denney and Kendra Denney, both of Mooreland, Ramsey and Riley Beck of Martinsville; one step great grandson, Blake West of Indianapolis; one sister, Anna (David) Rust of Fishers; a brother, David Coffey of Indianapolis; a sister-in-law, Carol Coffey of Trafalgar; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rufus and Lula Coffey, she was preceded in death by a son, John Daniel Beck Jr., as well as four siblings, Donna Collie, Rufus “Bud” Coffey Jr., Linda McGruder, and Joyce Applegate.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2022 at First Apostolic Church, 418 New York Avenue, New Castle.
