Wanda G. Rhoten

April 23, 1941 — August 14, 2020

Wanda G. Rhoten, 79, of Greenwood, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 14, 2020 at her home while surrounded by her family. She was born April 23, 1941 in Russell Springs, KY, a daughter of the late Wallace G. Richardson and Ada Mae Coffey.

A 1959 graduate of Russell County High School, Wanda moved to Greenwood in 1959. She owned and operated the Dinner Inn Restaurant at State Road 37 and County Line Road. Later, she and her husband, Jim, also owned and operated Jim’s New -To -You on Main Street in Greenwood for many years. She was a member of the Greenwood Bible Baptist Church. An avid antique collector and dealer, she also enjoyed sewing, but her favorite thing was spending time with her family. She was adored by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Jim Rhoten of Greenwood, children, Gloria E. (Russell) Schaub of Greenwood, Larry (Kim) Johnson of Russell Springs, KY, Mitch (Lynn) Johnson of Franklin, Cindy (Kevin) Brown of New Castle; grandchildren, Michael (Sarah) Robertson of Pensacola, FL, Gloria Michelle “Shelley” Winnings of Biloxi, MS, Gena M. (Dave) Andrewz of Russell Springs, KY, Dr. Nikki Johnson of Charlotte, NC, Cody Johnson of Seattle, WA, Cory Johnson of Greenwood, Shelby (Zach) Spangle of Franklin, Brittney Johnson of Franklin, Evan (Bethany) Brown and Olivia Brown, both of New Castle, Aleah (John) Riggins of Nashville, TN, Paige (Adnan) Alic of Greenwood, R.J. Schaub of Berlin, Germany, and Kailey (Jesse) Cacy of Frankfort; nine great grandchildren, Micah, Felicity, Morgan, Kelcee, Kayden, Weston, Zoey, Ryker, and Ethan; three sisters, Judy Campbell, Ella (Phillip) Johnson, of Joan Shaw, all of Russell Springs, KY; a brother, Jerry Gentry “The Can Man” of Russell Springs, KY four nephews, Lance Johnson, Jason Johnson, Randall and Jerry Shaw, all of Russell Springs, KY; a niece, Angie Atkins of Russell Springs, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace G. Richardson and Ada Mae Gentry; step dad, Rufus Gentry; brother in law, Charles Campbell; nephew, Lawrence Atkins.

Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2020 at Greenwood Bible Baptist Church, 1461 Sheek Rd., Greenwood, IN with Pastor Todd Poynter officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 12 noon – 3:00 p.m. at the church. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. (Central Standard Time) Tuesday, August 18th at Clear Springs Cemetery in Russell Springs, KY. Memorial contributions may be given to the Children’s Ministry c/o Good News Missions, 2716 East Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46201.
