William A. “Bill” Hinshaw, 76, of New Castle passed away Friday, March 22, 2019 at his residence. He was born May 7, 1942 in Millville, a son of the late Herschel and Eva (Van Demis) Hinshaw.
Bill retired from Outu Kumpu in 2004 following 36 years of service. An avid race fan, he spent many days at Mt. Lawn Speedway, working and attending races for many years where his son and brothers raced. A NASCAR fan, Kyle Busch was his favorite, even enough that Kyle personally made him a video and gave it to him with a helmet. He loved all sports, but especially basketball, also loved to fish and camp, and loved the outdoors in general. Another one of his favorite pastimes was spending time with his family playing cards.
He was a member of the UAW Local #729, enjoyed riding his UTV through the countryside, and dearly loved his dog, Corky.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Carol (David) McGlothin of New Castle; grandchildren, Josh Hiatt of Muncie, Brooke (Jason) Riddle of New Castle, four great grandchildren, Destiny McGlothin of Spiceland, Makayla McGlothin of New Castle, Miley and Layton Riddle of New Castle; his companion, Bridget Loveless of New Castle, his caregiver and neice, Mary Godsey of New Caslte; son-in-law, Jeff Sorrell of New Castle, sisters, Dorothy Ryan and Carolyn (Gary) Grim, both of New Castle; brothers, Carl (Vicki) Hinshaw of New Castle and Gerald Hinshaw (Linda) of Pendleton; a step daughter, Tina Taylor of New Castle, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty, his 2nd wife, Jo, two daughters, Kelly Hinshaw and Teresa Sorrell; a son, Scott Hinshaw, a grandson, Daniel McGlothin; several brothers and sisters, and nephews.
Bill’s family would like to give special thanks to Delaware County Hospice and caregivers Candy, Jamie, Shirley, Abbie and Dr. Williamson.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Kent Grim officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. noon until time of service on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be given to the Delaware County Hospice, 2401 W.
