Wilma Ruth Freeman

Wilma Ruth Freeman, 77, of New Castle went home to be with the Lord Sunday, June 11, 2017 at IU Health University Hospital. She was born December 29, 1939 in Albany, KY to the late Willard and Chloe (Cargile) Brown.

Wilma was head cook at various restaurants in New Castle, babysat at the YMCA and in her home. She was affiliated with Four Square Church in New Castle. Wilma enjoyed drawing, watching television, NFL and NBA games, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Debra Kay (Mark) Brandenburg of New Castle; two sons, Troy (fiancé Nicole) Freeman of Madison, MS; David Michael (Lana) Freeman of New Castle; four grandchildren, Mandy (Adam) Garland, Angela Guffey, Deion Michael and Shaydyn Freeman, four great-grandchildren, Lexe Whitted, Kaylea DeWitt, Derek Amonett and Shaylee Guffey, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kimberly, two sisters Kathleen Hudson and Christine Cargile, two brothers, Austin and Clyde Cargile.

Services will be a 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Jim Becker and Rev. Stephen Gallaway officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 14 at the funeral home.
