Wonnie Anne McFarland, 87, of Sellersburg, passed away Friday, May 14, 2021 at her residence. She was born on August 29, 1933 in Albany, Kentucky to the late John B. and Audra (Crabtree) Smith.
Wonnie was a 1951 graduate of Clinton County High School and retired from the Ingham County Office in Lansing, Michigan in 1993. She was a member of the Grand Avenue Baptist Church in New Castle and attended First Baptist Church in Sellersburg. She loved being with her family, walking on the beach, warm spring days, traveling and enjoyed volunteering at local nursing homes and libraries.
She is survived by her children, Mark (Carol) McFarland, Marla (Ernest) Lee, Gary (Sue) McFarland, and Thomas (Laurie) McFarland; grandchildren, Jeremy (Danni) McFarland, Amber McFarland, Alexis McFarland, Matthew (Stacey) Smith, Christy McFarland, Ryan (Abbie) McFarland, Haley McFarland (Joshua Shaw), Alaina McFarland, Randy (Lisa) Lee, Melinda Cross and Aftin Lee; great grandchildren, Mac, Maya, Tyler, Landon, Sarah, Makenzie, Meghan, Gabby, Betriese, Harper, Emersyn, Lennon, Cheyenne, Sara, Ashley, Shelby, Johnny, Oakley, Mason, and Vallie; four great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Wonnie is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. McFarland; siblings, June Melton, Reba Samaras, Virginia Hudleston, James Robert Smith, John B. Smith Jr. and Janet Lowhorn.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Charles Dugger officiating. Burial will follow at Elliott Cemetery.
