A. Margaret "Peggy" Stockinger

A. Margaret “Peggy” Stockinger, age 101, of New Castle, passed away Friday, January 16, 2009 at Henry County Hospital. She was born March 10, 1907 in Toronto, Jefferson County, Ohio to the late James Jackson and Clara B. (Myers) White.

She was an elementary school teacher for the New Castle school system and retired in 1972. She was a substitute teacher and had worked as a teacher assistant after retirement and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association in Henry County. She was also a member of the First Methodist Church and sang in the choir. She had participated with Oriental Missionary Societies and Margaret Brevon, traveling extensively and summer outreach programs including travel to Columbia, South America. She enjoyed sewing, oil painting and doing crafts.

Survivors include a daughter: Ruth Ann (husband: Jim) Meyerholtz of New Castle; a son: Fred S. (wife: Cathy) Stockinger of Naples, FL; grandchildren: Sean (wife: Karen) Stockinger of Estero, FL: Suzanne (husband: Steve) Minard, , Janyre (husband: Chris) Tromp, Benjamin Stockinger all of Grand Rapids, MI; Christin White and Josh White of Naples, FL; great grandchildren: Alissa and Grayson Minard and Bryanna and Micah Tromp all of Grand Rapids, MI; Kailey and Ashley Stockinger of Estero, FL; and Myles White of Naples, FL; niece: Marilyn Austin of Hanover, NH.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Reverend Chester R. Stockinger and a brother: William M. White.

Services will be at 4:00p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Tom McGilliard officiating. Burial will be in Cascade Cemetery in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Friends may call from 2-4p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the New Castle First United Methodist Church or the Oriental Missionary Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
