Alice Jean “Jeanie” Fairchild, 86, of Spiceland passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2024, in the presence of her family, while at the Willows in New Castle. She was born on June 4, 1938 in Shirley, Indiana to the late Woodrow and Celia (Whisman) Smalley.
Jeanie was a 1956 graduate of Wilkinson High School in Wilkinson, Indiana. She graduated from cosmetology school and was a beautician and was also employed by the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Home as a cook. For 15 years, Jeanie had the pleasure to help her granddaughter, Jill Kendall with her licensed daycare. More than anything, Jeanie loved spending time with her family.
Jeanie is survived by her daughter, Cheri (Dick) Estelle; son, Michael (Brenda) Fairchild; five grandchildren, Josh (Jan) Estelle, Jill (Andy) Kendall, Joshua (Chey) Loyd, Jared (fiancé, Samantha) Fairchild, and Joah Fairchild; fourteen great grandchildren, Dalton (wife Emily), Parker, Clara, Kyler, Cooper, Natalie, Easton, Jakob, Xavier, Titus, Jensen, Jasper, Theo, and Tobias; and one great-great-grandchild, Sullivan; sister, Jayne (Ken) Fort.
In addition to her parents, Jeanie was preceded in death by her husband, Parker Fairchild in 1998; sister, Lola Wolski; brothers, Lemuel, Bill and Tracy Smalley.
Services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Josh Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County Hospice https://www.hchcares.org/donate/ with envelopes available at the funeral home.
