Angela “Angie” Renee Smith, 56, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 28, 2026. She was born on May 3, 1970, in New Castle to the late Billy Bertram and Rachel (Shepherd) Brown.
Angie attended Blue River Schools until her junior year and then graduated from New Castle Chrysler High School in 1988. She had worked for Snug Harbor Healthcare and worked for many years at the Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility, where she obtained rank of Sergeant. Her proudest accomplishment in life was being a Mom and Grandma!
She loved her family and friends fiercely and was a constant in everyone’s lives. She was always there to celebrate good times or lend a helping hand when needed. She was especially loving toward her grandkids. Highlights of her life were watching her son, Bryce, play in the Little League World Series and watching her grandchildren compete in sports. She served on the Board of Directors for the New Castle, Henry County Youth Baseball League and the New Castle Youth Wrestling Club for several years.
Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She absolutely loved making the season special for her family, especially her grandchildren. She always went above and beyond to make it as magical as possible.
Angie could always make you smile and laugh. She made everyone feel included in everything she did. People genuinely mattered to her.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, Brock (Maddison) Smith of New Castle; Bryce (Taylor) Pinkard of New Castle, and Brayden Bullock of New Castle; grandchildren, Bailee, Hansen, Dawson, Vivian, Hadley, Hinsley, and Waylon; her mother, Rachel (Tony) Brown of New Castle; siblings, Vince Bertram of TX, Amber Block (Dan Hecimovich) of Noblesville, Tianna Bertram, Devon Bertram, both of New Castle; nieces and nephews, Josh, Ryan, Drew, Riley, and Kayden; step mother, Daphne Bertram of New Castle; special lifelong friends, Debbie Hoover, Wendy Polk, Anna Brown, and Shane Stone O’Brien.
