Anita Dorn

Anita Dorn, 68, of New Castle passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Thursday, September 24, 2026. She was born on April 24, 1958, in New Castle to the late William and Juanita (Robinson) Retz.

A 1976 graduate of Shenandoah High School, Anita enjoyed a life centered around her family. Staying home and raising her children was of the most importance for her. Anita found her greatest joy when her grandchildren became the center of her life. She always lived life for everyone else, putting their needs above her own.

Anita enjoyed working in her garden and yard, watching sports, especially her Colts, Cubs and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. She cherished watching her children and grandchildren at their sporting events.

She is survived by her children, Wendy (Geoff) Barber, Jeremy (Jennifer) Madison, Jennifer (David) Dugger and Jason (Christie) Dorn; grandchildren, Brynn and Ali Barber, Hoyt and Ruby Madison, Austin and Adley Dorn and Holland Dugger; siblings, Cathy (Tim) Rector and Ronnie (Cathy) Retz; her beloved cat, Henry; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Anita is preceded in death by her brother, Billy Retz.

Services will be on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 11:00 am at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the funeral home to assist with services.
