Barbara Louise (Austin) Shearer

Barbara Louise (Austin) Shearer, 81, of Shirley passed away Monday, May 4, 2026 at Carmel Care Health and Living Community. She was born April 16, 1945 in Rushville, Indiana to the late Delbert and Leola (Logan) Conley.

Barb was a dedicated individual who attended Shirley Elementary and Wilkinson High School. A proclaimed Christian, she took great pride in raising her grandchildren, fiercely protecting them at all costs. Known for her strong work ethic and independence, Barb frequently relocated to various states, yet Shirley, Indiana, remained her true home. An exceptional cook and homemaker, she maintained a tidy and welcoming environment. Her love for Elvis Presley and dachshund dogs was well-known, and her infectious laughter brought joy to those around her. Barb shared over 20 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Don Shearer, until his passing.

She is survived by her children, Danny (Tonya) Claborn, Tony (Amber) Gray, Tracy Gray; step children, Kevin Shearer, Jenny (Brian) Hall and Dana; grandchildren, Amanda (Steve) McNabb, Ashley Gray, Jacob (Lex) Claborn, Whitney Claborn, Samantha (Noah) Wright, Olivia Gray, Jaslyne Clark, Harley Gray and Josie Gray; great grandchildren, Kinley (Rylan), Kaylee, Bradley, Mikey, Harli, Arianna and Wyatt; a brother, Delby Conley; special friends, Tanya Heckaman and Marla; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Don Shearer; second husband, Wayne Earl Austin; siblings, Bonnie, Mary Lou, Evelyn, Susie, Betty, Eck, Jr., and Omar.
