Barbara Ann Daffron, 76, of New Castle, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospice Care in Indianapolis. She was born January 20, 1941 in Cambridge City, to the late Richard M. and Alice (Hatfield) Shelton.
A 1959 graduate of Lincoln High School in Cambridge City, Barbara was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved her family and friends in a sweet, caring way. She had worked at Regency Place Nursing Home in Greenfield and was a longtime member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church, and in later years The Sanctuary, both in New Castle. She was known as a prayer warrior and enjoyed reading her Bible.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Cynthia L. (Oliver) Neal of Cambridge City; and Melanie J. (Jimmy) Johnson of New Castle; grandchildren, Jessica Chriswell, Nathaniel (Angel) Prince, Lauren Prince (Matthew Jackson), Andrea Hubbard, and Christopher Hubbard; great grandchildren, Marlee Ann-Eliza Jackson and Lennon Iris Jackson; a sister, Flossie Howard of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Daffron; a great granddaughter, Eleanor Jackson; brothers, James and J.T. Shelton, and a sister, Sally Hurst.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Jeff Jaco and Donnie Silvers officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
