Barbara L. Norfleet

Barbara L. Norfleet, 89, of Carthage passed away Monday, November 2, 2026 at home. She was born July 16, 1937 in Jabez, Kentucky, the daughter of Eddie and Lola (Frye) Roy.

Barbara enjoyed spending a lifetime raising and spoiling her kids and grandkids. She loved to read to them, take walks to the old iron bridge with them, and teaching them about nature. Barbara worked outside the home from time to time. She was employed by Hancock Memorial Hospital, Green Tree and Kehein. Known to be a “prayer warrior”, Barbara prayed daily for a large list of family members, friends, and circumstances.

Barbara is survived by five children, Cheryl (John) Wright of Shirley, Todd Norfleet of Knightstown, Jo Norfleet of Greenwood, Shelly Norfleet Fields of Greenfield, and Darin (Shevin) Norfleet of Arlington; grandchildren, Jessica, Bobby, Carmen, Korey, Kasey, Damon, Breena, Bryce, Brylee, Alex, Hayley, Taylor and Rachael; several great grandchildren; siblings, Gary (Jean) Roy of Knightstown, Roger (Patty) Roy of New Castle, Sharon (Floyd) Steward of Anderson, Ronnie Roy of Needles, CA; several nieces and nephews; dear sisters-in-law, Dean Roy, Grace and Ina Mae; brother-in-law, Weldon Norfleet.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennie Norfleet; son, Dennie Wayne Norfleet; grandson, Kristopher Bowling; son in law, Bobby Fields; siblings, Darlus Johnson, Doris Steward, James Roy, Philip Roy and Beverly “Sue” Moore.

Services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 7, 2026 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel. Burial will follow in Harlan Cemetery.
