Barbara Faye (Meal) White, 96, of Carthage passed away Sunday, August 30, 2026. She was born July 30, 1930, at Home Place Farm in Orange Township, Rush County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Chester A. and Faye (Scull) Meal.

Barbara graduated from Waldron High School and attended DePauw University. She married Robert E. White on April 2, 1950. Barbara was a longtime member of Charlottesville Friends Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, pianist, and choir director. She most recently attended Greenfield Friends Church where she was a choir member, an Elder, and Clerk of the Business Meeting.

Barbara was a member of the Mixers Extension Homemakers Club and Rush County Extension Homemakers for many years and served as a County Officer for 15 years, including President from 1997-1999. She was also a member of the Rush County Homemakers Chorus. Barbara was on the Board of Directors for the Rush County Community Foundation where she served as Secretary and was a member of several committees. She was a volunteer 4-H Club leader for many years and served on the Rush County 4-H Council.

She is survived by her children, Melinda White (JB) Vogel, Mark R. (Diana) White, Michael J. (Vanda) White, and Melissa White (Richard) Higgs, her grandchildren, Gregory Vogel, Douglas (Jessica) Vogel, Emily Higgs, Allison Higgs, David Higgs, Anna White and Ruby White, and great grandchildren, Proctor Vogel, Hattie Vogel and Harlan Vogel.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, brothers, Stanley J. Meal, Harlan C. Meal, sisters, Beverly Meal Wagoner, Beth Meal Gahimer, and Faith Meal Laird.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Greenfield Friends Church, 323 W. Park Ave., Greenfield, IN, with Pastors Phil Baisley and Rick Schoeff officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Carthage. Friends may call on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the start of services at the church.
