Betty June Blackburn, affectionately known as both “Nana” and “Aunt Bea”, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026 at the age of 77 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center in New Castle. She was born September 25, 1948 in New Castle to the late Charles and Freda (Marshall) Howe.
Betty retired from Foam Rubber Products in New Castle after 33 years of service. She had also worked for Henry County Memorial Hospital for several years. Betty was the caregiver for her family as well as her extended family down through the years. Some of her hobbies include reading, cooking and working puzzles. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and her dogs. Betty was also well known for her delicious banana pudding at family gatherings.
Survivors include a son, Brad (Melissa) Blackburn of Greensburg; three sisters: Phyllis (Ron) Coatie, Julie (Michael) Allen and Brenda Grider, all of New Castle; three grandchildren, Eric, Aiven and Emberly; an uncle, Ed Marshall of Fort Myers, FL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a sister, Pam Wright and a brother, Ron Howe.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with her sisters, Brenda Grider and Phyllis Coatie speaking. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00 pm Saturday, prior to the celebration. Memorial contributions may be given to Shop with a Fireman or Shop with an Officer program in New Castle. You may express condolences or share a memory of Betty at www.hinsey-brown.com.
