Betty Crawford, 90, of Greenfield, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born January 21, 1932 in Greenbrier, TN.
Betty retired from Western Electric in Indianapolis following over 22 years in the Quality Control Dept. She enjoyed taking care of her flowers and plants and cooking. She was the best Southern cook ever! An avid sports fan, Betty loved watching basketball, was an I.U. basketball fan, and loved all kinds of racing, including NASCAR and Indy League racing. She also enjoyed shopping, clothing, and kept a sharp appearance, which was important to her.
Her sharp memory was noticeable to many, even up into her later years. An avid U. S. History buff and wonderful storyteller, she could hold anyone’s attention for a long time with her vast knowledge and acuity. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren gave her much joy. A lover of animals, she seemed to have a knack to connect with them on a personable basis.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three children, Janice (William) Lowrie of Carlsbad, CA, Jackie (Nancy) Crawford of Avon, and Melinda Carter of Greenfield; grandchildren, Eric (Schanda) Edelson, April Meece, Mark (Penny) Crawford, Amanda (Joe) Boyden, Addrea Carter, Ricky Ballard, Scott (Faye) Buckrop and Randy (Karen) Buckrop; great grandchildren, Brent, Megan, Gavin, Owen, Gemma, Ellie, Aria, Anna, Zachary, Sam, Casey, Jacob (Madison), and Jessica.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 72 years, Leonard Ray “Jack” Crawford; a daughter, Marcia Ballard; a grandson, Adam Carter.
