Betty J. Poindexter

Betty J. Poindexter, 82, of New Castle, passed away Friday, July 5, 2024 at Henry Community Health. She was born January 14, 1942 in Monticello, KY, a daughter of the late Joseph Allen and Luverna (Kidd) Dobbs. 

Betty was a homemaker most of her life, which she enjoyed. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, UNO, and playing Nintendo with her grandchildren. She enjoyed bowling and was on some Bowling leagues at the Rose Bowl. She had attended Evening Light Tabernacle in Hagerstown. 

Betty was young at heart, and enjoyed watching football, especially the Colts, and her favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Deborah (Joseph) Owens of New Castle; four grandchildren, Jason (Tiffany) Owens, Joanna (Lucas) Hicks, Jonathan Hardwick and Anna Hardwick, all of New Castle; a son-in-law, Paul Hardwick of New Castle; three great grandsons, Logan, Jordan, and Ryker; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Poindexter in 1999; her daughter, Rosanne Hardwick; two sisters, Bonnie Jones, and Thelma Dobbs; seven brothers, Roy, Earl, Clifford, John, Ray, Gene, and Russell Dobbs.

Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 12, 2024 at South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Condolences and memories of Betty may be shared at www.hinsey-brown.com.
