Bill was many things—a Vietnam veteran, a devoted family man, and a faithful Christian. To our family, he was a steady, loving presence whose quiet strength shaped all of us.
Bill endured more hardship than most, yet he never let it define him. As a young man, he lost his leg in a tragic accident. Later in life, he became paralyzed and wheelchair bound during the final decade of his life. No matter how tough things became, Bill never complained. He maintained a positive outlook and faced every challenge with determination and purpose. Anyone who knew Bill would say he was one of the strongest people they’ve ever known. He believed in waking up each day with a purpose, pushing himself to the fullest, and never giving up—and he lived that philosophy by example.
He served his country with honor during the Vietnam War, carrying the values of sacrifice, loyalty, and perseverance throughout his life. Though he rarely spoke about his service, the character it built in him was unmistakable.
Bill loved his family deeply. He was dependable, protective, and a man of discipline. Through his example, he taught us how to work hard, care for others, and stand firm without seeking recognition.
His faith guided everything he did. Bill lived his beliefs with humility—loving God, loving his family, and giving of himself to share the word of God through service, including jail ministries and mission work.
While we grieve, we also give thanks for a life well lived and trust in the promise that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Bill was loved and will be deeply missed. His legacy lives on in his family, in the lives he touched, and in the purpose and strength he leaves behind.
At Bill's request, a special service will be held in private with his immediate family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be directed to limbsforlife.org. Condolences and memories of Bill may be shared at www.hinsey-brown.com.
