Bobby Gaskin, 72, of New Castle passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at his residence. He was born June 14, 1953 to Glen and Loretta (Popplewell) Gaskin in Russell Springs, Kentucky.
Bobby was a retired truck driver, most recently delivering industrial products. He formerly worked in construction and also did traffic signal work. Bobby was a huge car buff and enjoyed his 1986 Corvette, which he spent many hours restoring. He also had many sports cars throughout his life: an El Camino, Camaro, Thunderbird and Shelby GT to name a few.
Bobby built his own mechanical workshop in his garage, where he spent many hours restoring and maintaining his vehicles. Other hobbies included camping out, watching birds, deer, squirrels and other wildlife from his couch. Bobby appreciated the simple things in life. He had a great outlook and when asked how he was doing, he always responded with “today is the best day of my life”.
Those left to cherish Bobby’s memory are his son, Rocky Gaskin of New Castle; brothers, Roger (Shanette) Gaskin of Sheridan and Leslie Gaskin of Plainfield; sister, Vicki Nevins of Bradenton, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bobby is preceded in death by the love of his life: his wife Kylene Gaskin who passed away in 2017. He longed to be with her since the time she had passed. Also preceding him in death was a brother: Larry Gaskin.
A private inurnment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. There will be no public visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. You may express condolences or share a memory of Bobby at www.hinsey-brown.com.
