Bonnie Carter, 93, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, July 1, 2026, while surrounded by her loving family, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to her family. She will be remembered for her generous heart, unwavering faith and the many lives she touched through her compassion and gentle spirit.
She was born October 11,1932 in New Castle, Indiana a daughter of Ezra and Portia Craig. Bonnie was a 1951 graduate of New Castle High School. On June 6, 1953, she married the love of her life, William Carter, and they were married 66 years until his passing in 2019. Bonnie was known by many to be a wonderful person. She held her family close to her heart as they were the most important things in her life. Bonnie lived for the annual family beach vacations; this tradition has carried on for 40 years.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Cindy Carter, Larry (Karen) Carter, Greg (Beth) Carter, Lori (John) Niehoff and Brent (Jill) Carter: 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren ; daughter-in-law Robin Carter; sister, Edna Wheeler and brother, Eugene (Betty) Craig, several nieces and nephews , extended family and many dear friends who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill, her son, Mark Carter, her granddaughter, Amber; her parents, her brothers, James and Curtis and her sister, Catherine Craig.
Though her presence will be deeply missed, her love and the examples she set will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered prayers, support, and expressions of sympathy during this difficult time.
Services will be held at 1:00pm Friday, July 10, 2026 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Jerry Ingalls officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 11:00am until the time of service on Friday.
