Brian Allen Stillwell, 58, a lifelong resident of New Castle, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at The Waters of New Castle following an extended illness. He was born on March 18, 1968, in New Castle, Indiana, a son of the late Michael and Patty (Smith) Stillwell.
Brian had a vivid imagination and a wonderful sense of humor. He was kind and loving, especially when it came to his family, whom he cherished dearly. Brian loved to hear jokes and share a good laugh. He had an amazing memory and enjoyed remembering and sharing stories. He also enjoyed keeping up with a little bit of gossip from time to time.
Brian had a genuine curiosity about the world around him and especially enjoyed watching construction projects and road construction. He loved animals and found comfort and enjoyment in their company.
Among Brian’s favorite television shows were The Andy Griffith Show, The Beverly Hillbillies, and Little House on the Prairie. He also had a few favorite foods that brought him great enjoyment, including pizza, pancakes, and macaroni and cheese.
Brian is survived by his sister, Jill (Luke) Stillwell of Indianapolis; aunts, Theda McFalls, Randi Lowhorn, Debbie Stanley and Lisa Lough all of New Castle; and a numerous group of cousins.
In addition to his parents, Brian was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jake and Evelyn Laugh; maternal grandparents, Walter and Wilma Smith; great paternal grandparents, John and Louise Stillwell.
Services will be held at 7:00pm Friday, September 4, 2026 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Visitation will be from 6:00pm until the time of service on Friday. A private burial will take place in South Mound Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation at www.cerebralpalsyfoundation.org or envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
