Charles David Hoffa

September 15, 1966 — August 23, 2025

New Castle

Charles “David” Hoffa, 58, of New Castle passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025 at IU Hospital. He was born September 15, 1966 in Greencastle to the late James Richard and JoAnn (Hall) Hoffa.

After graduating from Cloverdale High School, David embarked on a career that began at Hoover Farms, where he committed ten years of his life before transitioning to Grede in New Castle. Throughout his career, he earned a reputation as a reliable and hard-working individual, exemplifying the characteristics of a jack of all trades. Friends and colleagues will remember him for his friendly demeanor and his willingness to lend a hand, qualities that made him a great provider for his loved ones.

David was an Army veteran and his commitment to service extended beyond the military; he was known to do anything for anybody and was always there for those in need.

On the last Friday in January 1989, David met Donna, the love of his life. This encounter blossomed into a deep and lasting bond, culminating in their marriage that same October. Together, they shared a life filled with joy, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. David was wholly dedicated to Donna, ensuring that she never wanted for anything.

David’s vibrant personality extended into his hobbies and interests. He was an outdoor enthusiast who relished all things related to nature, including hunting, fishing, and swimming in Tim's pool. He also enjoyed singing karaoke, where he often brought smiles to the faces of those around him.

A master fisherman and a handyman, David excelled in the activities he loved, always with an infectious spirit that lightened the hearts of those around him. He was an all-around good human who left a mark in the lives of his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Donna Hoffa; son, Christopher Hoffa; siblings, Angela (Christopher) Stevens, Bonnie Hoffa, and Diana McLin; special bonus nephew, Marty (Priscilla) Cleveland; fishing buddy and partner in crime, Jeff Myers; and fur baby, Cricket “Drama Queen”.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
