Charles A. Medsker

Charles Alfred Medsker, 85, Springville, IN, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

Charles was born December 16, 1940, in Beech Grove, IN, to the late Raymond, Sr., and Delores (Childers) Medsker.

Charles married Shirley Marie Needler on March 27, 1964. They lived in Indianapolis, IN, until her passing on April21, 2023. They enjoyed traveling around the United States.

Charles served in the United States Army from 1962-1965. He was proud to be a Veteran of the greatest country in the world, and loved to share stories of his time working on missiles at Fort Sill, OK., and White Sands, NM.

Charles retired from Central Transport, after a career as an over the road driver. He was a lifetime member of Teamsters Local #135. He also loved to buy and sell gold, diamonds, and pocket watches. He will be remembered as always being willing to fix or repair watches for anyone who asked him. He also owned Bestway Brake Shop on Shelby Street, as well as Treasures In Time, on Keystone Avenue, both located in Indianapolis. He was a a familiar face at local flea markets and gun shows, always wheeling and dealing with his friends. He also was a voracious reader, spending hours a day reading his Bible, a Louis Lamour western, or some other favorite book. He also worked the crossword puzzles in the local newspapers, and loved to send letters to the editor to voice his opinions about local or national issues he found of interest.

Charles was a member of Christian Tabernacle while living in Indianapolis. He currently attended Life Tabernacle in Springville, IN. He and Shirley had also been members of Way of Life, in Hurst, TX .

Cremation arrangements are being provided by Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, and burial will take place later this year at the Marion, IN National VA Cemetery.

Charles was predeceased by the love of his life, Shirley. They had celebrated 59 years of marriage at the time of her passing. He was also predeceased by his parents, brothers Raymond, Jr., Milton, and Arthur, sisters Cheryl Deer, and Patricia Hughes.

He is survived by daughter Julie (Tim) Inman, Springville, IN., son Rob (Deb) Medsker, Hurst, TX. Grandchildren Michael Inman, Brandon (Armonda) Inman, Krista (Tony) Dobbs, Benjamin and Grace Medsker. Great grandchildren Aiden and Abel Inman, Giana, Tiara, Conner, and Hunter, and Isabella, Ava, and Greyson Dobbs. He is also survived by his brother Keith Medsker, along with many other family members from his family, as well as from Shirley’s family.
