Charles Painter, 75, of Spiceland passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 at IU Methodist Hospital following a brief illness. He was born April 12, 1941 in Henry County, the son of the late Wendell and Lucille (Jarrett) Painter.
A 1959 graduate of Spiceland High School, he attended Ball State University. He was a member of Spiceland Friends Church, where he served as assistant treasurer for 16 years and treasurer for 16 years. A member and former president of the Spiceland Lion’s Club, Charles worked for Draper Inc. for 6 years part-time and full time for 43 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Kathy Painter of Spiceland, whom he married August 5, 1962; two daughters, Michelle (Randy) Clapp of Spiceland, and Monica (Dennis) Peavie of Spiceland; grandchildren, Audrey Peavie (Dakota Davis), Lindsey Peavie, who lovingly called him Char Char, and Joshua Peavie, all of Spiceland; two sisters, Mary Ellen Van Osdol of Martinsville, and Judy Smith of Springport; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Spiceland Friends Church with Pastors David Brock and Cathy Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle and an hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
