Charles Spencer

Charles L. Spencer, age 76, of New Castle, passed away, Monday, October 20, 2008 at Henry County Hospital after an extended illness. He was born July 26, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Robert and Marie Spencer.

He retired from Chrysler Corporation after 27 years of service. He especially enjoyed camping, his grandchildren, racing and his 1947 Divco milk truck. He also enjoyed traveling, riding his motorcycle with his wife Joann and mowing lawns for people. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Castle.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years: Joann Spencer of New Castle; his children: Mike (wife: Julie) Spencer of New Castle, Tammi (husband: Jerry) Reamer of Franklin, Arthur (wife: Beth) McKnight of New Castle and Sabra (husband: Jack) Bell of New Castle; eight grandchildren: Jason and Jacob Spencer, Abby and Lauren Reamer, Adam Bell, Jeremy Bell, Harley McKnight and Layla McKnight all of New Castle; two great grandchildren: Dakota Bell and Brittani Cowan both of New Castle; two nieces: Julie and Lori Spencer of Minneapolis, MN.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Ann Spencer and Betty Spencer; a brother: Bobby Spencer.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2008 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Ron Kerr officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn addition. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Leukemia Foundation with envelopes available at the funeral home.
