Clara D. Craft

Clara D. Craft, 89, of New Castle, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Henry County Community Health in New Castle. Clara was born on April 11, 1937, in Twinton, Tennessee, to the late Dewey and Ethel (Gothridge) Lowhorn.

Clara was a strong-willed woman, a loving mother figure to many, and someone who deeply loved her family and friends. She enjoyed a good cup of coffee shared over conversation, going out to eat, shopping, and preparing tasty meals for those she loved. Clara also enjoyed growing flowers and traveling back to Tennessee to visit the beautiful Smoky Mountains, a place close to her heart and the area where she was born and raised. She was a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in New Castle.

Those left to cherish Clara’s memory include her special nephews, Jamin Vaughn and Steven (Keely) Smith, both of New Castle, along with several additional nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Craft, with whom she shared nearly 50 years of marriage, and her siblings, John, Clint, James Arnold, Brooks, Juanita, Wilma, Geneva, Minnie Pearl, and Margaret.

Services will be held 1:00pm Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery- West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 12:00pm until the time of service on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society at American Cancer Society.
