Clarence Martin Emerson Sr.

Clarence Martin Emerson Sr., 92, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026. He was born May 8, 1934, in Weston, West Virginia, to Howard and Pearl Emerson.

Clarence was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth “LaRue” Emerson, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage until her passing in November 2024. Their long life together was filled with family, travel, adventures, and countless memories. Through nearly seven decades of

marriage, Clarence and LaRue built a life centered around their family and the experiences they shared together. Their devotion to one another was a lasting and meaningful part of Clarence’s life, and he carried the love and memories of their years together with him.

Clarence is survived by his son, Gary Emerson (Eileen); his grandchildren, Jessica, Erin, Michael, Brittany (Alan), and Shelby (Austin); and his great-grandchildren, Abby and Clarke.

Clarence proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, beginning his service in October 1952 and retiring in October 1972. He remained proud of his military service throughout his life and was a life member of VFW Post 1282.

Outside of his military career and family life, Clarence loved the outdoors and enjoyed making memories through travel and adventure. He especially enjoyed camping in his RV and also loved boating, fishing, and hunting. He had a special appreciation for classic country music and could often be found listening to the songs he loved.

Clarence will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and veteran. He was preceded in death by his children, Clarence “Butch” Emerson Jr. and Marcia Emerson; his brother, Dorsey Emerson; and his sister, Denna Mae Emerson. His love for his family, his adventurous spirit, and the many memories he created throughout his life will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown, Indiana. A service will follow at 1:00 p.m.

Interment will take place at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown, Indiana with military honors conducted by the Knightstown American Legion Post 152 and the US Air Force.
