Cody Alan Denney, 33, of Lewisville, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly late Wednesday evening, July 2, 2025, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Cody grew up in New Castle, Indiana, and was a graduate of New Castle High School. He earned two degrees in Business from Ball State University and Ivy Tech Community College. Since 2023, Cody had been employed at HSM Solutions in New Castle, where he was recently promoted to Plant Manager—an achievement he was incredibly proud of. He was passionate about leadership and often spoke about the lasting, positive impact he hoped to have on his employees.
Cody was exceptionally smart and full of life. He found true joy in spending time with his family and his girlfriend, Elaina Marino of Miami, Florida. His two dogs, Leo and Sophie, were like his children—loved and spoiled.
In 2022, Cody purchased his first Ducati motorcycle, and riding quickly became one of his greatest passions. He always wore his gear and embraced the sense of freedom he felt every time he got on the bike. He was looking forward to purchasing a Harley soon so he could ride alongside his two sisters and their significant others—something he was truly excited about as a way to spend more time together, creating even more shared memories on the open road.
An adventurer at heart, Cody loved to travel and especially cherished two off-grid trips into Canada with close friends—living off the land for weeks at a time. He returned from those trips full of excitement, eager to share his stories.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and anything that brought him outdoors—passions passed down from his father, who was also his best friend and role model. Cody often turned to his dad for advice and aspired to be just like him. He was incredibly proud of his dad’s car and loved spending time working on things around the house with him. Whether it was fixing something up or just being side-by-side in the garage, those moments meant the world to him.
Cody also loved the gym, hanging out with friends, and just being present with those he cared about. One of his deepest and longest friendships was with Matthew Isaacs of New Castle, who had been by his side since kindergarten. The two were more like brothers than friends.
Family meant everything to Cody. Whether it was cookouts, river kayaking, holiday gatherings, or simple dinners, he always made time. He was especially excited about the upcoming Fourth of July tailgating plans he was making with loved ones.
In 2009, Cody became an uncle for the first time—and it changed his life. Though he had no children of his own, his niece and nephews were his pride and joy. He never missed a special occasion, always checking in and showing up.
Cody was a proud mama’s boy—always looking out for his mom, spending hours on the phone chatting about everything and nothing. Never forgetting to say “Most” before they hung up or said Goodbye.
Cody’s three siblings were his world. With his oldest sister, he shared a deep bond built on life talks, accountability, and making sure the other always felt seen, loved, and supported. With his middle sister, he carried a quiet but steady concern—constantly checking in to make sure she was okay, encouraging her through every challenge, and cheering her on through each personal victory. He believed in her deeply and made sure she knew it. To his younger brother, Cody was more than a sibling—he was a father figure, a protector, and a source of strength and wisdom.
Cody’s absence leaves a void that can never be filled. His infectious smile and laughter lit up every room, and his impact will be felt for years to come. To know him truly was to love him.
He is survived by his parents, Terry “Stretch” Denney and Cathy Berrett, both of New Castle; three siblings: Terri Brooke Ewing (Mike Vaccaro) of Middletown, IN; Kati Denney (Dustin Robinson); and Jace Stevens, both of New Castle. He is also survived by his cherished niece Finley Ewing and nephews Carter Denney and Brancyn Ewing; his maternal grandmother, Mavis Cole; brother-in-law Brad Ewing; uncles Phillip Denney and Kevin Cole; aunts Donna Asberry, Jodi Cole, and Rebecca Cole; many cousins; his beloved girlfriend, Elaina Marino; and countless friends who were like family.
Cody was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Arnold and Brenda Denney; his Papaw, John Cole; uncles Brad Denney and Randy Cole; his stepmother, Linda Denney; and a special lifelong friend, Todd Stockton.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 11, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle and will be officiated by lifelong family friend, Rev. Paul Davis. Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at the funeral home.
