Conrad L. Dean Hunt, (most known as Dean), 90, of Losantville passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025 at Glen Oaks Health Campus in New Castle. He was born February 13, 1935 in Modoc to the late Conrad R. Hunt and Dixie (Leeka) Hunt.
Dean retired from Delco Battery division of General Motors in Muncie on April 28, 1995 after over 40 years of service. He was a member, deacon and song leader of Antioch Christian Church in Losantville. Dean was also a Friend of the Gideons in Randolph County. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. In his retirement years, Dean enjoyed woodworking, crafting furniture and making hundreds of exotic wood bowls. He gave many away to Christian charity organizations for auctions, but never charged a penny for anything, thinking if he did, it would then become work.
Left to cherish his memory are two sons, Rick (Kathy) Hunt of Columbia City and Mark (Julie) Hunt of New Castle; three grandchildren, Jana (Scott) Tyree of Gilboa, New York, Matthew (Bethany) Hunt of Sawyer, Michigan and Abbie Hunt of Muncie; two step-daughters, Carlie (Jason) Sneed of Indianapolis Camie (Ben) Smith of Muncie; six great grandchildren, Rowan, Liam and Colin Tyree of Gilboa, New York, Mackenzie, Raelynn and Wesley Hunt of Sawyer, Michigan; step great-grandson, Jonah Sneed of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Marcella (Jeff) Dickey; brother-in-law, Eugene Corkell and several nieces, nephews & cousins. In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years< Mearledean (Corkell) Hunt; a son, Martin Hunt; three brothers, Siebert (Dorothy) Hunt of San Bernardino, California, Max Hunt and Edward Hunt, both of Modoc. Services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2025 in a large tent beside Antioch Christian Church, 101 W. John Street, Losantville, IN with Rev. Jerry Bowlin officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. It was Deans desire for this to be a real church service/tent meeting.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Randolph County Gideons, Treasurer Brian Edwards, 7660 N. US Highway 27, Ridgeville, IN, 47380-9297. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. You may express condolences or share a memory of Dean at www.hinsey-brown.com .
