Correna H Thompson, 93, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025. She was the daughter of Price and Mary Hall, born in a log cabin in Kentucky on June 6, 1932. She graduated from Olive Hill High School. Correna worked at Perfect Circle until becoming a full-time farmer’s wife, mother, and antiquer.
Correna married the love of her life, Bobby Hugh Thompson, on June 4, 1955. This led to the birth of two sons: Robert Mark (wife Marilyn) and Matthew Wayne (wife Susie). Correna enjoyed being involved with her grandchildren: Amanda (husband Josh) Huss, Brandon Thompson, Betsy Thompson, and Emily (companion Vincent) Neal. This in-turn led to the enjoyment of her great grandchildren: Sylvia (fiancé Noah Smith) and Evelyn Huss, Alexander and Tryston Thompson, and Danté Bright.
Correna was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers (Orey and Owen), and a sister (Maxine).
Correna was an avid antiquer and furniture restorer. If she wasn’t taking care of the boys or working in her shop, she was hunting for a good deal. Traveling all across the east coast would yield truckloads of trunks to refinish and furniture and other rare finds to collect or resell. Bobby and Correna traveled the globe, extending from across the U.S. to exotic locations like Spain, Italy, England, Scotland, Whales, Ireland, Austria, France, Mexico, Canada, Holland, and Switzerland, to name a few. Correna enjoyed listening to country music and watching old westerns, especially Hopalong Cassidy.
Correna leaves behind a lifetime of memories for those who knew her. She was always joking and smiling, sharing her love of life to everyone nearby. There was so much to her life that it’s impossible to put on paper. Ninety-three years of love, laughter, and living are hard to write down. Correna lived life fully every day and will be dearly missed.
