Darlene (Cox) Everman, 84, Rushville, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Flatrock River Lodge in Rushville. She was born June 20, 1942, in Carter County, Ky to the late Rev. Cleo and Alice Cox.
A 1960 graduate of Knightstown High School, Darlene was a hairdresser for many years and owned and operated a florist in Cincinnati. She was involved in singing and playing the piano in high school and in church. Over the years, she had several marriages and lived in Florida, Ohio and Indiana.
She is survived by a daughter, Cindy (Michael) Benson of Clearwater, FL; two grandchildren; several friends and relatives in the Carter County, KY and Anderson areas. She remained close to many of her high school classmates and was assisted in her later years by Jewell Dyer of Parker City, from the Class of 1960. Gayle Roswell, Darlene’s friend of many years, also helped her and remained close.
Several home health care agencies, Lifestream, and especially Flatrock River Lodge in Rushville, are to be commended for the care and attention given to Darlene.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Amy.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Glen Cove Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel. Condolences and memories of Darelene may be shared at www.hinsey-brown.com.
