Darrell R. Tuggle, 81, a resident of New Castle passed away Friday, June 19, 2026 at the Waters of New Castle. He was born March 29, 1945 in Wayne County, Kentucky to the late Addie and Maymie (Coffey) Tuggle. The youngest of ten children, Darrell was a 1964 graduate of Eubank High School and attended Ivy Tech where he received his certification in heating and air conditioning. He retired from Best Western where he had worked for over 30 years. He had also been employed at Chrysler Corp. in New Castle.

Darrell and his wife, Betty attended Grace Baptist Church in New Castle. His hobbies included setting up at flea markets, fishing, woodworking and collecting antique furniture. An avid IU Basketball fan, Darrell loved to cook, especially for family and friends. He delighted in spending time with his grandchildren and his great-grandson. Darrell devoted himself to caring for his wife during her health struggles.

Survivors include two daughters: DeAdra Baldwin of New Castle and Jennifer (Jim) Thornburgh of Bellefontaine, OH; grandchildren: Karissa (Ben) Christian, Caleb Thornburgh, Eli Thornburgh and Seth Thornburgh and a great-grandson: Aaron Christian; sister: Reda (Murrell) Denney of Waynesburg, KY; brother-in-law: Jim (June) Jones of Science Hill, KY and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Jones) Tuggle; an infant daughter: Angela; siblings: Eugene (Mary Ina) Tuggle, Carlos Tuggle, Lula (Cullem) Coffey, Arvis (Alfreda) Tuggle, Claude (Katheryn) Tuggle, Roy Lee (Bernice) Tuggle, Bernice (Paul) Watson and Betty (Frank) Perdue.

The family would like thank the staff of The Waters of New Castle and Southern Care Hospice for the loving care they provided.

Services will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Brian Neal officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 1:00pm until the time of the service on Wednesday.
