Dave E. Bilbrey, born December 10, 1950, son of Willie D. and Alpha E. (Downs) Bilbrey. He was born in Mt. Lawn, Indiana, Henry County, center of legendary Raintree County.
Dave attended Greensboro, Kennard grade school and Knightstown High School until the completion of his junior year. He then moved to Nashville, Tennessee and graduated from White House High School in White House, Tennessee. He returned to Indiana where he worked for Modernfold Inc. after a short stint in the Air Force where he received an Honorable Discharge. David had received a “Gold Key” for his art work in school through the Heron School of Art in Indianapolis. He usually worked days and bartended at night.
Dave had a very special mentor in his life at Modernfold, Mr. Richard L. Johnson. He acquired two more special mentors when he attended Four Square Gospel Church, Pastor Jim Becker and Mark Goggin. Dave had a loving, caring, kind personality. Over an eight-year period, Dave loved the special needs children he cared for while serving as a student aid on school bus #29 for New Castle Schools.
Dave was a member of the Circle “D” Rangers, who performed on the train from Connersville to Metamora. He enjoyed traveling, painting, his 50’s and 60’s music and gardening around the church. He had a great love for his Savior Jesus Christ, who was always there in his darkest hour. Pastor Jim could call on him to do about anything and he would try to do it.
If Dave could speak, he would tell you he loved each and every one of you so much.
Dave came from a large family who have all went on except his brother, Herbert and sister, Judy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by siblings, Vechell (2015), Larry (1943), Tracy (2000), Jeanene (1994), Charlotte “Mona” (2020).
Services will be held at 11:00am Monday, November 13, 2023 at New Castle Foursquare Church with Pastor Jim Becker officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery.
