David John Hermenet

December 17, 1959 — January 9, 2024

David John Hermenet, a man of joy and kindness, left us on January 9, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith. He was a remarkable husband to Jill and a devoted father to Jordan, his unwavering love for them defining his character.

David life was a testament to his deep Christian faith, evident in his role as a pillar of strength within his family and the church community he cherished. His enduring friendships attest to the impact of his kindness and grace. He exhibited a gift of truly being interested in others and making them feel important, instilling within them a sense of significance.

Through years of health struggles, David faced each challenge with resilience until finding peace on January 9, 2024. He now rests, his spirit unburdened.

After graduating from New Castle High School, David attended Hanover College and graduated in 1983. David worked in various roles and positions throughout his career. Some of his fondest memories were managing a glass company that he and his wife, Jill owned and operated. David followed in his father’s footsteps working in the food industry, along with his brother Dale, ultimately retiring from General Mills in 2021.

David passions included cheering for Purdue basketball, and quite honestly, relishing in all things Purdue. He enjoyed car rides in the country with Jill and his favorite place to stop and soak in the outdoors was Pendleton Park Falls. David appreciated the enchantment of plays, especially his favorite, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which brought him immense joy.

David shared his passion for sports, coaching Jordan in soccer, basketball, and t-ball when he was a young child. Together with Jill, he found joy in daily Bible studies.

David is survived by his wife Jill, his son Jordan, his father, Eugene (Gene) Hermenet, his brother Dale and his wife Kim, his brother-in-law Brian and his wife Amanda, and his nieces and nephews.
David’s memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were privileged to know this wonderful man. God rest your soul you dear and faithful servant. May you find eternal peace, surrounded by the love that you so generously shared during your time with us.

John 11:25-26
“I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die.”

Matthew 11: 28-30
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
