David A. McClure

Dec 1, 1954 — Oct 25, 2026

New Castle

David A. McClure, 71, of New Castle passed away October 25, 2026 surrounded by loved ones after his long hard-fought battle with cancer. David was born and spent his youngest years around Canaan, Indiana making cherished memories of small-town and farm life with his grandparents, Alvin and Arlena Manning, before moving with his parents to Henry County where he settled and raised his family.

David worked beast-mode as a union glazier for many years getting jacked and providing for his wife and children. After his retirement, David spent some years in Montana where he focused on his hobbies of antique Harley motorcycles and the restoration of antique cars.

He later returned to New Castle to be near his loved ones. David was a Ford man for most of his life, shown by his love of the Model A. David loved his Pan-head, Coupe, swap meets, hill climbs, bonfires, turning wrenches, collecting weird and interesting trinkets and bobbles, and spending time with his family, friends, and four-legged ride-or-die: Charlotte Rose. David was the handiest of men, able to fix anything from a house to an engine, often fabricating parts to do so. David also had a gentle side that comforted the tears of his girls.

David was adamant about his desire to be a donor. His lengthy treatment deteriorated the possibilities, but some lucky soul will receive the gift of sight through his donated corneas.

Due to Dave's compassion and strong desire to fill his later years with love and caring, there are a good many people who have felt his kind spirit and are now grieving this loss.

David loved hard and cared deeply for those around him.

David will be sorely missed by his family that loves him fiercely including his long-time wife, Audrey (Wright); children, Wendy (Mike) Haltom, Kelly (Stuart) Fisher, Drew McClure; five grandchildren; multiple great-grands; his brother, Richard McClure; a sister, Patricia Davis; several nieces and nephews; and a group of close friends that are very much like brothers to him (Art, Mike, Gary, Josh, and Sammy).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Denny and Joyce Maxine McClure; as well as the grandparents he spoke of fondly and loved to his final day. In his now immortal words, "Be reckless and bold": our friends; forgive, love, and be kind to one another.

At David’s request, there will no public services held. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel. Condolences and memories of David may be shared at www.hinsey-brown.com.
