David M. Province, 82, a resident of Middletown passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024. He was born March 12, 1942 in New Castle to the late David D. and Ethel (Waters) Province.
David was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in Turkey working in communications for three years. He was the owner/operator of Pro-Dig, LLC for many years and had also farmed in Henry County. David had previously worked for Indiana Bell Telephone Company and Castle Ford Tractor in New Castle.
An avid aviation private pilot, he was passionate about flying planes. David was a member of EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) and enjoyed Fly-Ins and various aircraft activities. An enthusiastic conversationalist, he never met a stranger and loved eating out with his family. David had strength and courage and cared so much about his family and friends. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years: Donna (Farmer) Province; three children: Carla (John) Bostel of Huntington, Cara (Don) Bauer of Roanoke and Chris (Sarah) Province of Greeneville, TN; step-daughter: Stephanie (Bill) Lantz of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren: Evan Bostel, Caleb (Sierra) Province, Amber Province and Ashley Province and Stacy (Steve) Phillips; great-grandchildren: Christopher and Aubree Province, Paisley Tyree (due in December), Hudson and Henry Lantz, Kaylynn and Maddy Harmon; brother: Steve (Joan) Province of Middletown; two sisters: Diana (Province) Kesterson Veritas of New Castle and Susan (Province) Collard-Phoenix of Muncie; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by three grandsons: Joshua Hudson, Nicholas Bostel and Brian Lantz and a nephew: Eric Kesterson.
A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Military rites will be conducted at 4:00 pm Saturday by contingents of the US Army, American Legion and the VFW. Condolences and memories of David may be shared at www.hinsey-brown.com.
