Dolores K. Roach Guffey, 92, of Cambridge City passed away Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Reid Hospital in Richmond. She was born December 19, 1932 in New Castle to the late William Horace and Zola K. (Werking) Shipley. The family were descendants of Abraham Lincoln and George Rogers Clark and are also related to Tom Hanks.
Dolores was employed at Richmond Casting for 12 years. She then went on to work for Ambassador Nursing Home in Centerville where she later retired in 2008. Dolores enjoyed riding horses, gardening, cooking and coloring. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She was especially fond of her Maltese dog, Tippy.
Dolores is survived by her children: Robert Gene Roach (Mary Brown-Roach) of Indianapolis, Melinda Jeffers of Cambridge City and Michael (Melissa) Helmsing; several grandchildren including Travis Roach, Kimmy Roach, Michael Keller, Bradley and Danielle Smith; several stepchildren; sister, Mary McQueary; niece and nephew, Michael and Melissa McQueary and a close friend, Teresa Allen.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother: Marshall Shipley; son, Michael Roach and four great grandchildren: Peyton, Brooklyn, Hunter, and an infant boy.
Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Jason Taber officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until the time of the service. Burial will be held at Hillsboro Cemetery at a later date.
